My name is Taayoo and I am a mom! I remember listening to a well -known speaker and author once
who said that whatever problem or situation in the world that really bothers you, grabs your attention
and won’t let go, that’s your calling.
I have always been very concerned and troubled about the prevalence of children and teens today who seem to lack focus, drive and sense of self.
I see them every day and often wonder, if it’s so obvious to me, doesn’t anyone else see it? My dad always told me that if you’re not part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem, but instead - like everyone else I buried my head like an ostrich and carried on.
I then took a job as a fundraiser for a major non-profit, where I was taught the importance of goal setting and systematically working towards achieving my goals.
That was my eureka moment.
If I used these same principles in parenting my sons, they would learn to set their own goals and be able to take the necessary steps towards achieving them. The greatest benefit I discovered is that by identifying their goals and the pathway to getting there, they inadvertently could identify and avoid the things that would derail their progress. Amazingly, all on their own they would mitigate against negative peer pressure and distractions! I started working with my two sons, ages 11 and 6 years.
Every week I would encourage them to set three goals, didn’t matter what they were, they owned them because they set them. The results were astounding!
Firstly, I was amazed by what their little minds wanted to achieve and secondly, given the opportunity, they knew how to get it done. My only responsibility now was to remind, encourage and cheerlead. I witnessed my 11-year- old progress from a recreational soccer player to a premier league player and my 7-year- old from first to third grade level math. All due to conscious goal setting.
I would have people compliment and ask me all the time, how do you raise two boys in NYC to be so
self- assured and confident? How do you get them to be so focused? The voice started whispering again, “what you know you have to share”- and the “Making Me Happen” program was born.
The program is
not based solely on theory, but practices and methods that I have used and continue to use with my
own kids. And you know you can always trust what a mom gives her own kids! I not only share with you a program, I share with you a part of MY family and lifestyle. Use it, most importantly, have fun with it and your kids! Blessings as you go forth and help shape your OWN purpose driven child!

Making Me Happen is a program for young persons between the ages of 8 – 23 yrs. The primary focus of the program is to help youth develop healthy habits thus building good character, through conscious goal setting. The program is not result-based but process based. By focusing on the process and not the results, youth will develop the important character traits of integrity, work ethic, self-motivation and discipline, which will in turn reap the desired end results.
